Extra weight: nutritious versus crash diets

According to American dieticians, nearly 2 of every 3 Americans are corpulent. Besides, obesity is considered the second major cause of preventable death in the United States.
The first thing that a person will turn to when it is high time to lose weight is a diet. A diet includes sound changes in eating habits. A balanced diet should include a lot of fruit and vegetables, whole grains and low-fat diary products, and a limited amount of lean meat, poultry and fish. The well-balanced diet is different from the so-called crash diets that promise great results in no time. Nevertheless, most crash diets are unhealthy, since they mean starvation. The body loses a lot of water – the most vital substance – and muscle tissue. These are the two key components that the body needs to burn body fat. If you are on a crash diet, you can notice a substantially large weight loss in the beginning. Being deficient in vitamins, protein, fats and carbohydrates, your body becomes vulnerable to viruses and bacteria. Moreover, because your metabolism is slowed down, it becomes increasingly difficult to burn body fat. So, most dieters give up. To lose weight permanently, it is necessary to alter your eating habits.
The good thing is that you do not have to give up your best-loved “comfort foods” in order to eat right. Instead, make them healthier by replacing ingredients. For example, substitute regular sour cream with its fat-free counterpart. Eat low-fat ground turkey in place of ground beef in a meatloaf recipe.
Fresh fruit or veggies from home, for example, are far healthier than that vending machine bar of chocolate.
If you are eating out, order smaller portions, share large servings or take leftovers home for the next day. Recent studies have demonstrated that more Americans than ever before are polishing off whatever food is placed in front of them. People unconsciously eat as much as 56% more calories when order larger portions.
Exclude high-calorie foods low in nutrition, such as candies, fizzy drinks, chips etc.
Note that no smart eating program is effective without exercise.
